Why This Event Matters
Joy Can Be Part of Healing
The Mabazza Foundation is a Boston-based cancer survivor organization that creates community-centered events, storytelling projects, and cultural experiences that bring people together through resilience, connection, and shared life experience.
Cancer survivorship is not only about treatment. It is also about life after treatment, rebuilding connection, being seen, and finding moments of celebration again.
By gathering around food, music, culture, and shared tables, this event raises awareness of cancer survivorship while celebrating Cambodian American culinary creativity and AAPI cultural presence in Boston's Chinatown.
The Foundation's support document describes the event as a bridge between culture and wellness, using food and music to create a warm setting for community members, survivors, caregivers, donors, and partners.
Help Bring the Evening to Life
Producing a one-night BBQ and live music event requires upfront commitments before the night can happen.
Funds raised will help support:
- Guest chef participation
- Cambodian Cowboy BBQ service
- Food and service costs
- Venue needs and related fees
- Live music and sound
- Permits and insurance
- Staffing and guest support
- Promotion and outreach
- Signage and printed materials
- Event supplies and guest experience details
The initial campaign goal is $7,500, which represents the minimum production threshold needed to move the event forward responsibly. The full event budget may increase depending on final attendance, menu selection, staffing, venue needs, and guest experience details.
