Through Winthrop Center's We Give Back promotion with Chop Shop, a portion of Vitality Bowl purchases throughout August raised an additional $500 for the Mabazza Foundation.

The Gathering
A city space becomes a place to pause.
Healing Art at Winthrop Boston brought Mabazza Foundation's original oil paintings into The Connector, the central gathering space at Winthrop Center.
Guests met the artist, heard the personal story behind the Foundation, and learned how its mission uses art, community, and emotional connection to support cancer survivors and others moving through illness, caregiving, grief, and recovery.
Visitors experienced the artwork, contributed to the event, and connected with original paintings that ultimately found new homes with collectors.
Why This Matters
Healing is emotional, visual, and communal.
Mabazza Foundation believes art can change the emotional temperature of a room.
Many people facing cancer, chronic illness, grief, caregiving, disability, or recovery spend long seasons in spaces that feel clinical, stressful, or invisible. A painting does not solve those experiences, but it can soften them. It can open conversation. It can offer breath, dignity, and a moment of return.

For the Mabazza Foundation, that response gave the exhibition another life beyond Winthrop Center. The paintings left the gathering space with people who chose to carry their stories forward.

Heart in Color, a framed 23 × 30 inch oil on canvas in a floating black frame, was the featured auction work for the Mabazza Foundation's gathering at The Connector.
The painting was awarded to the highest bidder, and the auction proceeds were donated to the Wang YMCA of Chinatown in support of its cancer support program.
The outcome carried the spirit of the painting beyond the exhibition: color as courage, feeling made visible, and art placed in service of community.
