When one of us must hold the hope.
This is not an anonymous interior. It is a family portrait: the artist, his spouse, and their dog. One man is bowed under the weight of cancer and health fears. The other stays with him. The dog is part of that small, faithful circle.
When one person cannot find the strength to believe in tomorrow, someone who loves him may have to believe for both of them. Hope does not disappear because one person can no longer carry it. For a time, it passes into the hands of the one who stays.
