The Colors
of Merengue.
When music enters the body, color finds its freedom.
A dancer turns through crimson, turquoise, and gold. His movement becomes something larger than a gesture: a vivid exchange between control, surrender, and the joy of release.
The Complete Composition.
A Body.
A Rhythm.
A World of Color.
With his back turned to the viewer, a dancer reaches outward as the fabric at his waist erupts into crimson, turquoise, black, and flashes of gold. His form remains precise and human, while the space around him seems to lose its boundaries.
Rather than illustrate a single dance step, The Colors of Merengue holds the instant when movement becomes instinct. The extended arm balances the turning body. The surrounding paint appears to respond to him, as though the rhythm were passing from flesh into fabric and then into the air itself.
The painting is about a particular kind of freedom: the moment strength no longer requires stillness, and surrender becomes a form of expression.

Where Motion
Becomes
Paint.
From across a room, the sweeping fabric creates the feeling of a single gesture. Up close, that movement breaks into hundreds of decisions: thick crimson drawn across dark pigment, turquoise carried in long directional strokes, ochre and gold pressed into the light.
The figure is rendered with a different restraint. Warm transitions across the shoulder and back give his body weight and tenderness, while the painting around him becomes more physical and uncontained. The contrast makes the gesture feel at once grounded and unrepeatable.
These close photographs reveal the actual texture of the oil painting: the weave of the canvas, accumulating pigment, and the changing direction of each brushstroke. This surface is meant to be encountered in person.
The Painting, Up Close.

The Freedom
of Becoming
Movement.
Strength and vulnerability can occupy the same gesture.
In The Colors of Merengue, masculine movement is both powerful and unguarded. The dancer’s face is turned away; the architecture of his back, the outward reach of his arm, and the flowing fabric speak in his place.
The colors do more than decorate the dance. Crimson carries its heat, turquoise its vitality, and the darker passages the depth that gives movement its force. The figure is not simply moving through an abstract setting. The space appears to come alive through his presence.
Across the artist’s wider practice, the body can be a vessel for uncertainty, transformation, perseverance, and joy. Here the body becomes an instrument of release.
Original compositions are developed using digital drawing and image-making tools. Selected compositions are then realized in oil on canvas by professional studio painters under the artist’s direction. The process joins originating vision and material execution in a singular physical artwork.
